When I withdraw I sleep a lot or can't sleep at all...withdrawals are dangerous BTW, you should see a Doctor if you are concerned or start hallucinating.

Please do check with your doctor to be safe. I was so agitated during withdrawal I would have been happy to sleep thru it. But do speak with your doctor.

As everyone suggests, check with your Doc.
Depending on how much you have been drinking (and for how long) and how quickly (or not) you stopped, you could also be at risk of a fit

When I attempted to stop drinking a year or so ago... I couldn't believe how tired I was. I could have napped most of the day. Folks told me it was normal. It seems strange that taking away a depressant would make us more tired, but it seems to happen.

Acute Withdrawal lasts usually 3-5 days, but there are exceptions. Post Acute Withdrawal is different and can include a lot of sleeping. See the sticky on PAWS for more info, but definitely talk to your Dr. either way.

I slept fitfully or brilliantly when I stopped last year, depending really. Now, on day 3 from both alcohol AND cigarettes, am not sleeping too well at all!
