I have a feeling there is a huge silent majority who quit without AA or online support or anything whatever.
I share your feeling

I'm nearly a year sober, and I did it with SR alone. After my DUI's I had to attend AA meetings, court-ordered. They were small meetings and I really stood out, everyone knew each other - and when they went around the table asking everyone to introduce themselves & share their experiences I would choke up and lose it every time. I was way too emotional and upset about everything that had happened to really take part in the meetings with an open mind. I might give it a try again for the extra support it could give me. Honestly, fear of dying has been the main reason for staying off it this time. I convinced myself my days were numbered if I kept going on that path. I do worry that the memory of my last horrible binge will fade over time.
