Day 1?

Yesterday was an awful day, nothing felt good, not even this board.
I decided to drink and I went to the store to buy some wine and I went there and stood there looking over the many choices for what seemed like eternity. I walked out with coffee and some chocolate. Then I remembered I had this very tiny bottle of champagne at home from awhile ago and drank it. It was awful, tasted horrible, I didn't get drunk nor did I have any inclination to buy more.
Though this doesn't mean I can control my drinking.
I have done this before (rarely). I guess I am back to Day 1, but it doesn't feel like it. I know what many will say, but I just didn't want to feel as though I'm being deceptive as long as I am still on here.

Thanks,

LD

Hi there

This has come up a couple of times and IMO i think that I would look at it as counting the days i was sober, but still going back to day 1. This means that every period you are sober will make it easier to break that period the next time. If you have gone 30 days, say, without and you have a fall then you know that the next 30 days you can get through then go for the rest. Kind of like getting into the gym where you start at 15 mins and build up to where you want to be, e.g. 1 hour a day sprinting.

That's my opinion anyway, dust yourself off and keep going:-)

It was pure H.A.L.T. All of it.
Was hungry, angry, lonely and tired. Was also around someone who was drinking earlier in the day and even though I tried to tell myself it wasn't triggering simply because they were drinking beer (which I hate), it really did implant itself in my brain and told me "It's okay, you can drink too".

Each time I resumed drinking after I had decided to quit....
at least 2 elements of HALT were in place.

I also found I could not hang out with drinkers...

Glad you are starting fresh...and Yes! you too can recover!
