Keep your eyes open, stay in touch with your higher power, and have a plan. You have the desire and willingness......You are surrounded by love, don't fear!!!!

I hope you got through it ok my lovely. I know it's not an easy time. My girlfriend finished with me last week and I actually thought I would never get to this day sober. But I did and in 45 minutes it will be over.

We can't be with you all the time...AA can't even be with you completely....I don't know what your thoughts are on your Higher Power but if you believe like I do that there is one then they can be with you every minute of every day. If you just sit in silence and look deep down inside yourself you will find them. Remember that you can start your day over as many times as you need to. You can say the serenity prayer and you can find true peace.

Also...has anyone you've known ever gone back out drinking and said it was any better? It doesn't get better...just worse. It will lead to insanity, it will take everything away from you and then it will kill you. I don't want to be harsh but sometimes we need to remember just how serious this illness is.

I know you'll be stronger than ever before making it through today. And I for one will be proud of you because I know how hard it is.

Pleased to meet you, Geek. Yes, you're right, I do feel stronger having gotten through the big test. Last year's holiday season did me in & I didn't even see it coming. I was almost expecting a repeat.

Nikky, I'm holding up much better than I ever thought. The day's not over yet, but I'm not around alot of people tonight, so it's easier. Just me, husband & dogs.

The rest of you saying you're proud of me just makes me so happy. That's what I wanted, to make you proud, & to show you that all the things you've said on here to help me were carried in my heart. Knowing everyone was pulling for me gave me courage and determination I would never have had on my own.

I knew you could do it!! You're a keeper, you are! As is often the case with me, others had more faith in you than you had in yourself! Boy is THAT a familiar scenario!

Glad you had a safe, sane, and sober time!

BIG hugs!:ghug3

((Hevyn)) I'm so happy for you. I just did my first sober Christmas Day too, and I couldn't have done it alone. (was exhausting!).

It's when we think we are going to be OK - that's when we don't see things coming and get blind sided. But you were prepared and a bit scared - All the best for the rest of the holidays - I take SR everywhere in my mind too!

Hev you should be proud of yourself and doing this for yourself because you really are the most important person. I know what it's like though - when it's hard if you think about other people it does make it easier.

Congrats though - and congrats to everyone who has got through this holiday sober. That is another victory for you and you should be proud of yourselves. I know I'm chuffed with myself and so grateful for the gift of sobriety.
