new to the forums

i decided to sign up to the forums in hope that it will be a line the sand that ive crossed. ive never sought help or gone to AA so maybe if i take the few initial steps i will finally admit i have a problem and be able to control my thoughts and actions instead of falling victim to my cravings and old habits when the triggers occur.

I don't honestly think ill be able to stay sober, i have to admit.

ill tell ya a little bit about myself.

late 20's and have spent the past 11-12 years of my life binge drinking 1-3 times a week. often times drinking till i blackout. in the second half of my junky days ive always tried to chase the wearing off alcohol buzz with drugs(something i never ever would even consider doing when im sober). I pretty much am a completely different person when drunk, a person who literally has a distinct personality from when I'm sober.

i want to spent the next ten years of my life sober, i have never lived up to my full potential in any area of my life, and I would like to see what I can accomplish without chaos and sickness in my life.

im only 8 days in, i was just wondering if it gets easier after 10 days or so ?

I started feeling better after my first 30 sober days. My emotions were still 'raw' and all over the place, but every day got better. Just a suggestion: don't doom yourself to failure by saying you won't be able to stay sober. Just stay sober for today. Today is all you have so just stay sober TODAY. Deal with tomorrow when it gets here. Staying sober one day at a time really works.

Welcome! Keep coming back!

Hi and Welcome,

You can do this!

You need to want to be sober, more than you want to drink.
