I made it to 30 days!!!!!
Go ME!!!
How am I going to celebrate??? I want to say I'm going to a meeting, I'd LOVE to go to my meeting, but alas....I must attend Jury duty in it's place.
I had bailed out of it last May and had to reschedule for December, damn civic duties, interefering with my life.

Thanks, it's my new mantra. Comes from a Jimmy Buffet song.
I bought a cheap watch from a crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says now
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong
And If I have trouble the warranty said
Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On
And it rained, It was nothing really new
And it blew, we've seen all that before
And it poured, the Earth began to strain
Pontchartrain leaking through the door, tides at war
If a hurricane doesn't leave you dead
It will make you strong
Don't try to explain it just nod your head
Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On
And it rained, It was nothing really new
And it blew, seen all that before
And it poured, the Earth began to strain
Pontchartrain buried the 9th Ward to the 2nd floor
According to my watch the time is now
Past is dead and gone
Don't try to shake it just nod your head
Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On
Don't try to explain it just bow your head
Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On
I hate to place blame on anything other than alcoholism, but the fact remains that Katrina and the federal flood and it's ensuing hell on earth had alot to do with what amounted to over 3 years of living in the bottom of a bottle.
quick rundown..
Katrina
Hurrication
diagnosis of Mother in law's inoperable colon/liver cancer ( while we were living with her)
Loss of business ( 4 feet of stanky water)
bankruptcy
restart of business
failure of business ( not enough client base back in town)
Death of Mother in Law
and, and, and.........
For along time and I would suppose it's still true, New orleans is the most self medicated city on the planet.
Now I get to face life on Lifes terms and am grateful for every single day I can tackle a problem sober and present. And when it gets tough, I remind myself... Breathe in, Breathe out, Move on. I know I can't save the world, but dammit I can save me.

Congratulations on 30 days. Sorry you had so much to deal with, but look what you've learned. I love it because that's more then a person with 30 days wisdom. You got it my friend. Don't lose it.

A long but good day.. even with having to sit in jury duty for 3 1/2 hours waiting to be NOT CALLED..It was cold in there, and 250 ppl coughing and sneezing all over the place.. I just crocheted and smiled politely. Went to work, it was sadly slow, but I got stuff accomplished, and went through the day with a sense of well being and not a small amount of pride. I can be.... Annoyed, pissed off, bored, happy, sad, infuriated...you name it, and I don't have to take that first drink.
