8 days in the toilet, but feel STRONG
I proudly had 8 days of sobriety. I even spent a Friday night drinking tea with my sister! I have tried to anticpate my triggers and make a plan for how to deal with them.
Yesterday I went to a children's party where there were drinks for the adults. Whoa! Did not expect that one coming! I drank 2 glasses at the party and then went home to drink 2 beers and start smoking. THen, a voice started yelling in my head "STOP!!!!!!" I put down the beer, ate a sandwich and took a nap with my daughter.
In the past when I would slip up, I would always feel great shame - incredible shame- for the following few days. This time I feel empowered. I feel like I can be stronger this time. I feel like I learned from this incident. I can't always anticipate those tempting situations so I need to really think through what I do. I am ready to begin again and better than ever!
Just had to shout it out!

I'm glad you "shouted it out"! No one can take away the 8 days sobriety you just had. They're not wiped out what you experienced in that time. Yes, we start the counting over but it seems you got a lot of "good" in your recovery and feel more empowered! Yeah! It takes what it takes for each of us. Buckle up and fasten your seatbelt cuz we are going on a ride, Sista!
All my best & lots of hugs xoxox
