The Foundation

Hi all,

I had some difficulty on the drive home but made it here to the computer OK. I noticed my mind thinking about having another ONE. So I changed my thinking and turned on a meditation for the drive home. I'm getting better at handling the urges and knowing the triggers that set them off.

but I am just not going to let the addict in my brain run the show anymore. I'm not fighting him either. just like a good parent who simply says NO, I am saying NO to my addict voice.

tonight I chair a meeting and that was one thing I thought about after the urge. and that helped me stay clean a little bit i think.

I just finished a poem that I started yesterday and would like to end this post with it. have a wonderful day.

The Foundation
(by Ksplash5, 11-13-08)

The trenches are laid around your Heart.
Filled with the best concrete around
For a moment you notice your foundation is built
You see it and know it is good.

There are still walls to build and bricks to lay
a thousand nails to pound
every moment is now yours to choose
to follow the light of your Heart.

Your ready now for the waves of pain
And you'll push through these difficulties breaths
just like a seed that sprouts below
slowly pushing aside smooth dirt and heavy stones.

The Destination don't matter anymore
it doesn't even exist...
and more and more you'll practice new life
and keep doing the next right thing.

Aww, fantastic poem. Isn't it funny how your mind plays tricks on you on the drive home? Sigh.

yes it is....it was working full time on my day off as i went to the CITY to get an Xray. the CITY that i've spent a lot of time driving around and buying junk. lucky to not have been hurt during those times.

but I made it through. I made sure I went in with no money on me, and then stopped at the bank on the way back home.

I have good, strong INTENTION to stay clean today. to live clean. to live IN recovery. to be a good friend and parent.
