Thumbs up Day 1

I'm coming off of Percs and Vics and today is my first full day sober. It's 3 am and I'm wide awake. I'm also freezing, sweating, cramping...you guys all know the drill.
I'm just starting this thread to keep myself going. I know I'll do better if people are checking in on me.
I want this so bad, I want to feel good again, just because I do and not because of a substance.

Well, my head seriously hurts and I can't just lay down cause I've got two kids to take care of...do you think coffee would hurt or help at this point?

Hi and welcome. 24 hours is awesome. You can do this. I don't know about the coffee for you. For me, I couldn't drink it my first two weeks sober. It made me so jittery. I switched to herbal tea to calm my frayed nerves.
But my DOC is alcohol. I know how tough it is doing what you are doing.
Stick around, post and read. You will get through it. Maybe consider
going to a doctor or the ER for medical attention and some assistance to go through the withdrawals if they get too bad?

I second the herbal tea. It helped calm me down a lot. Or, even better, herbal tinctures for relaxation. Try Motherwort or Skullcap. Motherwort is my personal favorite. The best way to take herbs is in tincture form, FYI. You can get them alcohol free if you also have problems with alcohol.

Caffeine will probably just make you more uncomfortable.

Anyway, keep on keepin' on, take it one hour at a time, or even one minute at a time if you have to.

no, alcohol has never been a problem for me. I can't stand the taste, really. If I could get drunk by taking a pill, however, I'm sure I would have a problem with it!

You really need to check with your dr.

We are not able to give medical advice and you should have your concerns checked out.

now I'm sleepy but the kids are running around screaming so I'm about to drink even more coffee...and then I for sure won't be able to sleep later. What a crappy cycle this is.

I put down the coffee, turned on the Christmas music and cleaned up a bit, made dinner for the kids and took a shower. I'm actually feeling alright right now. It has me suspicious, like maybe I took a pill without remembering it or something.
I have OCD, so this is a normal obsession for me!
I don't think I did though, just think I got a burst of energy.
