Newbie Here!

Hi Everyone!! :c012:

I'm in recovery for codependency and therefore I'll be your BEST FRIEND!!!

I will do whatever you ask and I'll smile real big and pretend that EVERYTHING is wonderful!!!!!! I'll be able to tell you EXACTLY how you feel but don't ask me what I feel because - guess what? I have no clue!

*Sighs heavily and takes her mask off* No, that's what I'm trying to get away from.

I'm 'Cheese' after Cheese from 'Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends'. His pic is in my avatar.

Anyway, I'm glad this group is here.

I just went to my second Celebrate Recovery meeting last week and I bought the CR Bible. I've been a Christian for 15 years.

I'm the Adult Child of an Alcoholic and my dear father (and best friend) died when I was 9. My mother started drinking after that and my entire family moved away. I learned to take care of my mom and everyone else.

So here I am at 42 and facing the Real Cheese in the mirror.

I'm glad to be here. :ghug

Oh Cheese, big welcome!

I was you, not so long ago. Sadly I turned to alcohol in an attempt to self-medicate and off I went for a few years. I have since learned to form some boundaries and to rediscover myself.

You'll find lots of support here.

Welcome to SR Cheese, I am sure you will feel at home here.
Great crowd to offer you support and friendship, best wishes.

Thanks Dave47 and Anna! :You_Rock_

I'm not sure if I should be here because I don't necessarily have an addiction to chemicals or drinking. I do have an addiction to being codependent and eating improperly. :codiepolice

I went to my second recovery meeting as I wrote before and I couldn't say anything. It was just overwheming enough to sit there with my very presence admitting I had a problem. :( How long does it take until you start talking in meetings?

Thanks...

(((Cheese)))

Welcome to SR!

I am recovering from addiction, but my biggest hurdle was recovery from being a huge codie (codependent). I started reading on the friends/family substance abuse forum and it has helped my codie-ness tremendously.

Whatever forum you want to post...go ahead! There is a ton of support here and some fantastic people to walk with you.

Glad that you are going to meetings...you'll talk when you're ready. For me, it took a little prodding, but once I opened my mouth, I don't think I ever shut up:)

Hugs and prayers!

Amy

I don't know as I may be a codie or not, but have always been very good at pretending things were wonderful when they weren't.

Welcome to a loving caring supportive site! I'm glad you found us! I have no advice for you but I do have a big welcoming hug!:ghug3
