I travel a good bit for my work, mostly to Europe. I find it helpful to always carry bottled water with me while out and about. Beer and wine are cheap and soft drinks more expensive. So, it helps to have a water bottle you can fill with juice, tea or another soft drink of your choosing. I've never had a problem with it at any restaurant or cafe.

I was in Munich for Oktoberfest and had a great, sober time! I know drinking alcohol is just not an option for me. I did sample a truly horrid soft drink supposedly a traditional Oktoberfest treat for the kinders. I don't recall the name, it was a mix of lemonade and cola. Yuck.

If you are staying at a hotel, ask the reception desk if they have a list of AA meetings. Many hotels do have them (a list).
