I have 30 Days!!
My wife's brother called me today to tell me he knew how I could make a few hundred bucks by taking this wine tasting survey in Boston. My first question to him was, "do I actually have to taste wine?"....lol...Back in the day I would have jumped all over that. Free wine and free money, sign me up, but things are different now. I don't think he knows I quit drinking. I asked my wife not to tell anyone yet so he probably doesn't know and as anyone who has read my posts knows, he has pretty serious issues with booze himself. I thought about telling him I couldn't do the wine thing because I stopped drinking a month ago after that wedding, but just didn't want to get into that conversation with him, at least not yet.
Today is Day 37.
Passed another "first" last night. Went to my first concert without booze in as long as I can remember. Saw AC/DC last night in Boston. Also saw several of the people in our tailgate crew. The night was awesome. Just sipped sodas and snacked on the food. I really-truly enjoyed the music, actually listened it to it, and must say that music is better heard without a brain full of booze. Told one of the guys from the tailgate crew I quit drinking. He asked how long, I told him, and then we got interrupted by his son and moved on in the conversation with others. But he's the type of guy to ask a follow up question or two the next time I see him.
All in all, doing well.
Oh, saw my friend this weekend (the one who quit drinking when he heard I did) and he went to his first AA meeting this past weekend and on his first night, met a sponsor, a local man he actually knows from his pool league. I'm so happy for him, and so proud of him. Just awesome. And a friend of his, inspired by that, is also trying to quit.
Quite a ripple.

No man is an island unto himself. All are a piece of the continent, a part of the main... not sure how that really goes, but the gist of it is that our actions DO influence others. How lovely that your friend was inspired by you to quit drinking himself!
Congrats on reaching 37 days!
