Hi! Welcome to SR.

First of all, you have to want to quit more than anything. You have to be willing to go to ANY length and do ANYTHING to stay sober or you won't be able to.

I would suggest getting a treatment evaluation and attending 90 AA meetings in 90 days.

I tried to stop drinking for years and could not until I did treatment, AA and counseling and worked really hard at it.

Good luck!

I have no doubt you can kick this habit. Think about your children. They WANT you to grow old with them, watch them go thru the successes of their lives, have children, you being a grandfather. The alcohol is trying to stop you from getting there, don't let that control YOUR life..let YOU control your life..when your kids get older, you'll be a grandfather, and you'll be sooo happy, sooo glad you got the alcohol out of your life. You CAN do it..there is no "maybe" here! Keep your mind occupied with something such as moderate excerise, like taking a walk, learn something new, like I did,(Suduku) read a book, start a project based on something you enjoy. One thing I found that helped me was drinking REALLY fresh, cold, water. Absolutely perfect stuff. You're pretty much there already..whatever YOU DO, stay CLEAN NO MATTER WHAT!
Take care my friend.

Back again

Well Guys/Gals,

I'm back again. Went 9 days w/out drinking, including 5 glorious days hunting with my Dad, then back into the old routine, but not as heavy. Maybe 6 beer a day.

This week, None Mon or Tues, 3 Wed, 12 Thurs, None Fri, 7 today..............................It's progress.

I am seeking this for myself, but moreso for my kids. Their Mom and her boyfriend are heavy drinkers, as I was (am?) and I want them to have a place where that **** doesn't go on, because I know all too well the heartache it brings.

I am making progress, wish me luck.

A
