I'm closer than ever I believe.

Hi all newbie to the forum but not to recovery.Half of my family are recovering addicts to something or another. My Dad i would consider Recovered. The rest are borderline.

As for myself,I have alot of reasons to stop. The fact is that I KNOW that right now I don't want to.I have not lost everything yet but the spiral is picking up speed.I have kicked just about all other addictions in my life but the drink has had me since i was 13.This seems to be my greatest nemesis in life.

I have been past step one for along time now,and recently i believe that I have passed step 2 because i understand my higher power.Took me along time because i am in no way spiritual nor religious.I believe in God I think but just not in this situation.

I have alot of questions in the future to come so please just bear with me.I am sure will conquer this.I just HAVE TO BE SURE that i am goin to give it my all.

Anyway,Thanks to all who have came before me and have had the courage to make "the leap"

I believe That posting here is the the lean into MY Leap.

To be honest,I am posting this half way thru my first drink of a few (I hope)

Please don't judge me because i am posting here while still consuming.

Once again Thank You and GL to all in each personal journey.

Hi and Welcome,

I'm glad you are looking for support and information.

I agree with you, that you need to really want to stop drinking, for it to work. It takes a lot of motivation.

I hope you keep reading and posting.

The first step is admitting you have a problem and putting down the drink. One day at a time, it gets soooo much better! Good luck!
