Exclamation Need a reason to stop drinking?

Today on morning television, Kerry Katona (former Atomic Kitten and UK celebrity) came on to discuss her career and cosmetic surgery she'd had.

Kerry has a history of drug and alcohol problems and this interview is very uncomfortable viewing as she's totally out of it and in complete denial - but I thought maybe it could be useful on the forum as a reminder to us of why it is we are working so hard to stay clean and sober.

Get well soon Kerry.

I watched this live this morning, at first it seemed funny then it just became sadder and sadder by the minute.

Also this is making the main news on the bbc and itv.
She shouldn't have been allowed to go on the show, but itv, in their defense said as she was late arriving only junior staff and makeup had contact with her before she went on.
I do hold my hat up to Fern Britton and Phllip Schofield though as they were genuinely concerned for her well being.

Wow...what to say...made me want to cry. I don't know her nor the interviewers but I felt they brought light to her problem rather than help her through the interview. If they had real concern for her and knew she was drunk they would have said nothing and approached her afterwards. Sad.

How would it of looked to the ITV viewers if they hadn't have flagged it. This show is the main ITV show on every weekday morning and has huge viewing figures, if they hadn't had said anything they would have been lambasted for condoning her behaviour on the show, so I feel given the circumstances they were as gentle as they could be.
As I said this has made all the main evening news shows on our national television.
I agree it was sad but I think that ITV had a responsibility to let it's viewers know they didn't condone this, the main problem was that she was allowed to go on the show in that state.

I don't know who she is either, but she is obviously wasted. Maybe seeing herself like this will give her the push she needs to get her act together.

Eeeep, that's just painful to watch! Never mind what caused her slurred speech etc, I wonder why the presenters didn't call for a commercial break. I mean, they had plenty of time to figure out that something was up with that woman... Why did they just sit there and grill her for 9 minutes instead? It just seems cruel.

I know this sounds like the "hard word" approach but if this public humiliation hits her hard enough then maybe, just maybe this could be the catalyst to accepting her problem?
Suppose we could all provide testimonies about the single occurance which made us say, "enough is enough, time to quit". This could be her kick up the arse. Hopefully, life changing, eventually.
Let's hope so, eh?

Lol, I do get your point, however this seems a little bit extreme.

Especially considering that she's there to promote an hour long programme that doesn't seem to show her in a better state either - naked, completely out of it and slurring about her body parts. Maybe knowing what addiction is like makes me feel bad for public figures who humilliate themselves so blatantly... Though getting help is their own responsibility of course...

Yeah, like you said, hopefully this will be her breaking point to get some help.

With a bit of luck she may be able to kick the drinking habit, and, with a bit more luck she could also kick the singing habit and give us all a bit of relief !

I've just switched it off.
What can we say?
What did it take to make each of us wise up?

LOL, imagine that! "Red and Bubbles - Mattcake, the Untold Story of a Trainwreck".

I'd give that one a miss

I'm not entirely convinced she is drunk. Am I the only one? Or have I been married to alcoholics too often and believe any BS??

Apparently the UK media is the same as the US media- anything to destroy a celebrity.

I didn't think she was drunk either. But has taken something.
She has battled addiction for years. Since the split of her marriage to Brian her life seems to go from one disaster to another, her present relationship is set to destroy her. It's so very sad.
