Am I an alcoholic?
Well, I give myself a rating from 0-10 on my mood each day (Weird, I know - something that came from a sports psychologist) where 0 is desperately unhappy and 10 would be ecstatic. Average score over 10 days when drinking was 5.6 vs. 6.2 when not drinking. The improvement of 0.6 is a 10.7% increase in my mood when not drinking!
There's more to this than I first thought - on a drinking day, I'm probably much happier when I'm actually drinking, but less happy when waiting to start - guilt, etc. On a non-drinking day, I don't have the high but I don't have the lows, either, so overall a non-drinking day is a better day. So why don't I have more of them?
10 days clean today!
