Day 13: A new month, a new start

Typically at the beginning of every month I would start over again and see how long I could go without drinking. Inevitably it would last a few days before an epic meltdown of blackout proportions would sully the clean slate.

Having quit in the middle of last month, the new month simply brings a continuation of what I am attempting rather than a new resolve that is brought down in shambles.

For everyone out there fighting, keep it up. You can do it, I can do it, we all can do it.

Congratulations Michael and welcome to SR! 13 days is great and I am glad to see you found what works for you and your right, "You can do it!"

I have always been one of those people who say I will start dieting on Monday or January 1st or whatever, same with alcohol...I will quit September 1st when it is only August 15th! Why not just start right now? That is what I did this time with the drinking and I quit on September 11th and proud to say I am on 3 weeks today...so lets all just cut the crap and quit making excuses and do it!!

Good job Michael!:dance1a:

Yes, I have that pattern or new diet, exercise, financial discipline, etc. on the first. I tend to overindulge on the 30th to purge all the bad things. Probably refocusing on this throughout the month would be helpful.

I like your attitude! Very positive and hopeful.

I struggle every day. I'm a realist that this is not easy. I also see others on here and want to try and lead by example.

13 days. That's a great example

YEAH! 13 days! 14 today, right? Good job! I also just decided to quit at that moment...sept 20th. I too would always say well I will quit in two weeks..I almost did that because I knew my husband would be gone the following weekend and I had a case of beer in the fridge...i thought well I know I will have a stressful week with school, sooooooo...but then I decided that I do that way too much, as I do it with exercising too, and so I just quit. I have it on my calendar to start back to the gym monday..oct 6 lol. Case of beer STILL in the fridge...Good job! All we can do is day by day.
