Class of October 2008
It's so much more enjoyable getting clean and sober with friends. Not so lonely cause you're with people who understand your addiction. Congrats to the new October club members and congrats on your decision to be free of your addiction and start a better way to live.
Welcome all, we're glad you're here!

Thanks! I don't feel proud of myself though. I was a moderate drinker before six months, but mi ex left me, it was pretty ugly. I started drinking to forget about the problems, to remove the pain. I started relapsing. I losted money, respect and my job. I feel so bad that I did this to myself and so embarrased.

Today is a fresh new day.
We can't change the past but we have today to make better decisions.
I am still feeling the embarrassement that I caused from my addiction. But I am just happy that I have made the decision to get sober and I can work out the rest of it.
Every day sober is a gift and a miracle.
Hello to all my fellow October classmates.

Good to know that I'm not alone!

Let's all keep our October sobriety dates.
We are starting a new life in October 2008.
This is a place to come and let others know how you are doing. No matter what is happening in your life. We are all in this together.

Had a slip on the pills on Saturday, so day 2 - again! But one month today without a drink. Not too shabby for someone who couldn't get through 24 hours before!
The slip was because I had to go to this social event and it was all held in a bar! I haven't been to anything sober since .... don't remember when. Had good time with my Red Bull! Also realised, other people hardly drink. Now I know what social drinking is!

LostButterfly, thanks for checking in! Glad you got right back up and are keeping at it!
I'm so tired today. I couldn't sleep last night... finally did get a few hours. I pretty much cried myself to sleep last night. I had a horrible headache and all of a sudden, got very sad. Thought about coming on here and posting about it, but I didn't.
I'm committed to staying sober today. Having a rough time but I will not give up. There's nothing in life that a drink wouldn't make worse so picking up a drink or using anything is not an option.
Just facing life, the good and the bad.
And I'm seeing a doctor this week and I'm so scared.

Hi y'all,
I'm still truckin' along... I'm on day 9 now. This time IS different. My every thought is not consumed with, "how long has it been since I had a drink?" and "is there any way I can possibly sneak a drink tonight?" or trying to plan a time when I can drink when no one is around. It's refreshing! Man, that crap just took too much darn energy.
Don't get me wrong - I DO still think about it - but it's not an all-consuming, obsessive thought pattern like it was before. Right now, this moment in time, I don't miss it.
So I guess that last time really WAS different. Maybe it really WAS the last time.

We had a tradition on a site I used to quit dipping Skoal that did something called a roll call. I little corny, but it worked for me and many others. Everyday we signed in for roll call showing our success from the previous day as long as a commitment for the rest of today. It would go like this:
Hilltopper, Day 4(comments if you have any)
Joe, Day 2
Susie, Day 6
There is no particular order, just who signs in, and you have to copy, paste, and then delete part of the message to make sure it is organized for all to read. It also makes us able to see who has reported to roll call and who hasn't so if we are concerned about someone in our October Class we can send them a private message, email, phone call if we have their number etc. I enjoyed a lot and I think there was some great accountability which we all need. I'll start if off if that is ok in the next post.
