here we go again..

hey everyone, this is my first post. on tuesday night my boyfriend and I both decided that we need to quit. for about two years we have been addicted to opiates. at first it was the oxycontin, percasets, fentanyl patches, ect. then we came across the heroin and its been an uphill battle. we've tried to quit several times and gone through the excruciating withdrawls only to relapse within a few days. we need eachother, but we also enable eachother. yesterday our dealer got busted and its ironic to me how we had decided to quit and then that happens. we are both commited to our recoveries and want to help one another. I just want to get through these withdrawls and depression. its been so long since I've really felt anything...any words of wisdom? thank you

hey poppy, sounds like you are ready to make some decisions that very well may save your life. can you see a doctor? if you don't have insurance or the cash for that, i suggest you research for some free or sliding scale resources in your area.

keep reaching out!

hugs, k

Hey Poppy,

I am in a similar boat, I've been trying to quit alcohol for about a year, and am back on day 1 today. I would check out a NA meeting, hearing other people's stories can help me stay sober, it might help you as well. I know the withdrawl from heroin can be awful, but hang in there, when it's over, you never have to feel that way again.

Welcome - sobriety is worth every bit of effort that you put into it!

Have you and your bf considered detox and / or inpatient treatment? What about outpatient? NA and AA are good too.

The decision to quit is an excellent start and with that you can propel yourself into action. I look forward to reading more as your journey to sobriety has begun.

Thanks and keep posting.

THERE ARE SOME GREAT NEW MEDICAL ADVANCES IN opiate addiction. i recomend that you see a doctor licensed to do this type of work. it really helps you through some of the hardest parts of withdrawal. it could work for you guys. good luck.
