Day 5: Battling depression and mood swings

Still having some pretty strong withdrawal symptoms. Trying to stay away from too many other people as I'm experiencing varying mood swings.

Most of the time I'm just pretty down but getting better.

I realize it won't be easy.

You're right, it isn't easy. It is very much worth your effort tho, and the longer you're sober the better you'll feel.

I went on sleeping pills a week ago and very nearly ended up admitting myself to the psych ward. The best thing I can recommend is keep on being positive, it's painful as all hell at first but then there comes that day where you're no longer faking and you begin to gain confidence in yourself.

Keep moving forward, you are doing great thus far.

I found that an AA meeting helps even if I am moody. There is some sort of comfort in being in a room with other people who know exactly how you are feeling. You don't have to share, and since I came back from my relapse, I have found that at least 1 time a meeting someone will say something that I can completely relate to, which again provides hope and comfort.

No matter what, keep moving forward. Everyone here at SR is behind you.

I too found the AA/NA meetings to be helpful, without ever saying a word.

So many other people just like me said exactly what I was feeling & thinking.

Hang in there. You are not alone. I am on day 7 of sobriety, and for the past 3 1/2 days I have been in a foul mood. I've been grumpy, irritable, and just plain pissed off. I'm fine during the day when I'm home alone, but once my family is home in the evenings I about lose it. I have ZERO tolerance for just about anything. So I went to a meeting yesterday, and I went to TWO meetings today. I've been told "this too shall pass"... let's hope so. And soon!
