That ignore list seems a bit infantile to me; but, that's JMHO. It reminds me of the lyrics to a children's song:

"I don't want to play in your yard,
I don't like you anymore,
You'll be sorry when you see me,
Sliding down our cellar door,
You can't holler down our rainbarrel,
You can't climb our apple tree,
I don't want to play in your yard
If you won't be good to me."

I have often wondered this. For me though i was a sensitive child, so i know that came first. Maybe the alcoholism exaggerated it, maybe without the alcoholism i would have grown out of it.

But this is one thing many alcoholics have in common. Interesting thread.

WoW. Good point... it sure got me thinking.

I taught daycare at a lab school at University for 10 years..my degree is

in Early Childhood and Psychology..

Wonder how I became alcoholic..sheesh..

What I always observed year after year..

The bully in the play yard is the most unhappy and lonely little boy..

(and girl)

IO Storm 09-13-2008 09:48 PM

Oh..

I'm not sure if I've ever been on an ignore list..but I think you would know if you

would try to PM someone and it didn't take.. not sure..

All About Love 09-13-2008 09:52 PM

jersey!!!!
i believe i would like to know you
you sound wise an cheeky!
an ignore list?
well im scr**** then!
lol
i agree on its infantility thats for sure as if we're not already complicated an confused enough in early recovery or at any stage in recovery

something like that could be real dangerous to the very sensitive addict/alcoholic

sad.. i feel sad for that sort of thing.
yukeeeeeeeeee

Too Mutch...

Great! Am I the only person on an ignore list? Sounds about right.... LOL.

I know I am on someones ignore list because he made sure to tell me he was putting me there.
You?

Good grief...

What is the world coming to....

I'm ignoring all of you now....hello?...can you hear me? ...I SAID I'M IGNORING YOU ALL!!!....um....anyone there?....LOL!

I gave up thanking everyone a few pages ago...don't read into it!...lol...just too many. ;)

brainfried: keep on keepin' on, girl....you'll get through this... :)

I just re-read this thread and I noticed that SelfSeeking described me perfectly regarding my assumption that the rest of the world hates me as much as I hate myself!! So true - sad, but true.

As far as the thank you button goes... I've sometimes worried that someone will take my thanks, or lack of thanks, too personally and think I dislike someone cause I didn't thank them, and so on... So to anyone thinking I don't like them cause I didn't thank them - well excuuuusssseee meeee!! :lmao Same way with the 'friend request'. I often wonder if I should just request friendship with everyone... tho having 45,000 friends would make my profile rather unwieldy and take up too many pages!

Whether I use the thank you button or not, I learn something from everyone here, if nothing more than just seeing from someone else's perspective. And when I can see thru someone else's perspective, whether I agree with them or not, I am learning something.

Does that make any sense??:e088:

:ghug

On another forum I belong to, the ignore list just means you can't see that person's responses. Is that how it works here also? So if someone is ignoring you, you can ignore them as well. That way you won't be bothered by what they say cause you won't know it.

Thanks, IOS...kind words. Of course, I meant I never applied it by working in a day care when I retired, which was my intention. But, as they say, "The best laid plans, etc. etc." Oh, I like the one I heard in AA: "Man proposes, God disposes."

Jersey Nonny 09-15-2008 12:34 PM

Don't know if that's the way it works...but, what you don't know won't hurt you.

IO Storm 09-15-2008 12:53 PM

Amen.

Yeah..I've been here since March of 2007..and it has been getting a tad

weird at times..don't know what the heck. People jump in and just attack

right in the middle of a thread..and you don't know what the beef is, or

who it was directed at...and if you address it? Look out!

I've never had to use the ignore button..but if i had to? I would.

Jersey Nonny 09-15-2008 01:21 PM

This is actually a bumper sticker...guess it's not an original idea.
