Let Us Remember I posted this on Paulos's thread in the alcoholism forum. But those who don't venture to that thread, I wanted to post in Newcomers as well. Let Us Remember! YouTube - God Bless the U.S.A. by Lee Greenwood |
Thanks Toomuch. I didn't even realize today was the 11th. I didn't forget the tragedy of 7 years ago, but didn't realize it was the anniversary today. The plane noises today will sound a little different today. I do remember how quiet the skies became for awhile after that happened. My husband was a business traveler back then and was very glad when he stopped the travel. |
I still get a little choked up on September 11th. For all the crap (gas prices, politicians, etc.). I still love this country. Thanks Toomuch. |

Posted a week or so ago on another thread: We were just talking about this beautiful song the other day. You may recall it was from the all-time, longest running off-Broadway show, The Fantasticks. When it closed in January 1992 with 9/11 having happened so recently, people in the audience were sobbing because the words had taken on new meaning and were even more poignant than usual. Try to remember the kind of September When life was slow and oh, so mellow. Try to remember the kind of September When grass was green and grain was yellow. Try to remember the kind of September When you were a tender and callow fellow. Try to remember, and if you remember, Then follow. Follow, follow, follow, follow, follow, Follow, follow, follow, follow. Try to remember when life was so tender That no one wept except the willow. Try to remember when life was so tender That dreams were kept beside your pillow. Try to remember when life was so tender That love was an ember about to billow. Try to remember, and if you remember, Then follow. Follow, follow, follow, follow, follow, Follow, follow, follow, follow. Follow, follow, follow, follow, follow, Follow, follow, follow, follow. Follow, follow, follow, follow, follow, Follow, follow, follow, follow. Deep in December, it's nice to remember, Although you know the snow will follow. Deep in December, it's nice to remember, Without a hurt the heart is hollow. Deep in December, it's nice to remember, The fire of September that made us mellow. Deep in December, our hearts should remember And follow. |
