one week alcohol free, feel fantastic - now
Haven't had alcohol in one week, feel great today. No cravings, flat stomach after months of bloating, headaches finally gone. I had horrid headaches every day last week. Got through the weekend with no cravings for a glass of wine, which surprised me as I drink every weekend. Is this normal, am I to expect cravings?
Had a calm, relaxing week with the kids too, things just don't seem to get to me like they did before, I take a breath before getting stressed.
On Friday, we settled on our property and I celebrated by going to the movies, instead of opening a bottle of wine! I am so glad I found this site, thank you to everyone for opening my eyes.

Hey, sunshine, good for you! I have cravings every now and again...usually it's tied to my emotions...I come here and read if I get one...shoot, I come here even if I'm not craving. I need to spend more time outside and less time on the computer.
No flat stomach for me...too much fat! I need to walk again...or something...

sunshine,
Congratulations! So good to hear you feel wonderful!
There's nothing wrong to expect cravings. When you don't get them, you're surprise empowers you more. The possibilities are endless. The improvement is ongoing. I believe we don't crave the alcohol. We only crave the void that was filled by the alcohol. You apparently filled the void so there was no craving. Think of what you did and mix it up a bit each day. The feeling of control is so peaceful. Prayers

That's great news!! You're doing terrifically well. I had the headaches for two long weeks, and they're just letting up now. As for cravings - I guess I have the psychological ones, physically I really don't 'fancy' a drink anymore. However, I am hideously depressed at the moment. There is a lot of stuff going on in my life right now, but it's been there for a while so I'm not pleased with this awful cloud of gloom and tears. Is this 'part of it' too?

early sobriety was pretty overwhelming for me...just focusing on what was going on in this one minite....I really had to do that...if I thought ahead to all the things that were messed up from my drinking and needed to be fixed I would have been too overwhelmed. But just thinking in terms of what is the most important thing I can/need to do right now slowly got me out of alot of that stuff over time.
