Hello,
My name is Melissa. I have 47 days sober today. I am a mom of 2 little ones 5 and almost 2. They are my life. And I vow to get better for them. The past 47 days has been tough but not as tough as the past 6 years. I was a BIG FAT WINO, drinking my self silly every night. People say you can't scare a drunk sober, but it has worked for me. The Hubs said, "either stop or I WILL LEAVE WITH THE KIDS". We just bought our 1st house and my oldest is starting the big kid school tomorrow, I don't want to loose everything I love, for that one thing that will eventually kill me.
Thats my story in a very small nutshell. Thank you for listening.

Melissa, I'm a wino too! My alcoholism wasn't so bad until I fell in love with wine. Once I did it was over. Bottle to two bottle's a night. Excuses to "Get groceries" almost every night. This was really to pick up wine. My wife was cool about it unless I got silly. Two little kids, 3 and 1 that probably don't know me any other way. Hangovers that would bring superman down to his knees. Anyway, I'm 7 days into it, feeling great, I'm glad you found us all as when you can't relate to anyone else about this(spouses included) you can here. My wife doesn't understand why I can't just have a couple glasses with dinner. She truly doens't get it. Hang in there.

Welcome to a great place Melissa! Congrats on your 47 sober days. I'm only 5 days behind you! I too am a wino. Really glad you're doing whatever it takes to stay sober. This place is a fountain of love and support and good advice. (not medical advice tho) Lots of inspiring stories of others' journeys to sobriety.
Come back often and post where you like. Lots of different forums for different aspects of addiction. I'm glad you found us!
