Day 4

I`m starting day 4 and starting to feel better after a hellish day 1 and 2. I dont know if anyone remembers but I had posted a while back about my last hellish detox and I got about a week and relapsed. So here I go again. I`m finally getting an appetite back, taking vitamins and drinking water. I am taking ativan to help with the withdrawals since I always detox at home alone. I just never want to feel that sick again so I`m hoping I can last this time.

Glad you are here again....

What is your new plan to stay sober?

It's exhausting to bounce back and forth
I did it too...

You don't ever have to feel that bad ever again. You can do it! Just don't pick up a drink one day at a time!

Continue moving forward.... :atv

Hey dreamer...If you get the urge to use again, maybe you could try coming to SR to read and post? That usually helps me. If that's not possible, call someone up. You can get through this. You'll find lots of support around here. :)

Know exactly what you mean...try to fix how ill you were to any drink!!! That's what I try to do - is it really worth feeling that horrible for a drink?

Ezzi 08-23-2008 05:39 PM

Congratulations on Day 4! Lots of support here.

Day 5 - having very strong urges to drink. I can imagine getting in my car, driving a few blocks to the store and buying a bottle of wine - cracking it open - pouring a big glass (I use big water glasses , broke all my nice wine glasses) bringing it upstairs - putting it on the table next to the computer and sitting and drinking like I always did.

Or I have alot of cleaning to do - I always drank while I was cleaning or cooking or writing bills or talking on the phone or just about everything.

I don`t want to do this.....yet I do. Please someone tell me something to stop me. Ugh..

STOP! DON'T DO THIS! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING! YOU'VE COME THIS FAR, DON'T THROW IT ALL AWAY!

I hope that helps Day. lol I like your sense of humor. I think you'll be just fine. You didn't get to day 5 without some real inner strength. What you're doing is an interesting thought. To go through the steps in your mind so you can clearly see if you've still got the desire. I kind of did the same thing. On my second day I went to the grocery store (where I always bought my beer) and stared at all the beer (even the brands I never bought) and noticed the price tag. I did the math and figured I could buy a new car with the amount of money I'll save now. Each time I go to the store I walk right on by with such strength and conviction. Life is good. keep up the good work Day, I'm proud of you! :a122:

Day 7. Right there witcha, Dreamer!

Hilltopper1972 08-26-2008 10:30 AM

Keep at it DayDreamer. Wine is my poison too. I over the past few years have been getting progressively worse hangovers and splitting headaches. I can't take it anymore and am afraid. Today is day 9 for me and I feel great. How much wine did you drink and what specific plans have you made to make sure you don't cave again?
