That's where I went! Definitely go, it's so much fun. You get to cook the food at the table so on top of all this tastiness, you also have a project!

I really love japanese steakhouses. Where they cook at your table. Thats fun. I worked in them before. It was cool. Best job I ever had. I loved it.
Took awhile to get a taste for sushi. And I still wont eat the raw stuff.

They may look funny, but when cooked right (and not rubbery), they are one of my favorite appetizers - calamari. Lightly fried with red sauce for dipping - yummy!

Usually anything that has more legs than me sitting on a plate is scary.
I am from S. Florida. My friend is a swamp redneck.
They use to always ask me to stay for dinner when we were teenagers.
Whats for dinner?
Frog legs...turtle..gator...rabbit...WHOA!!!
I am not hungry but thank you.

I clicked on this thread out of curiosity, and now I'm hooked! I've become a Foodaholic, since I don't drink, don't smoke, haven't been in a relationship for almost 30 years...my only addiction now is food.

The thing I miss most about being in this nursing home is not being able to cook...one of my favorite things in life. Now, I look forward to my sons or daughter calling me for advice on different recipes...my eldest called last night as he was making a pot of spagetti sauce for his roommates.

I'm getting hungry, so after I have lunch, I'll stop back...maybe with some easy food suggestions.

Now you have a thread full of people who will need recipe suggestions! And basic cooking advice. I can boil things, and saute things, but a lot of the finer points are lost on me. I have been living off of pasta, and sauce out of a jar, for a long time- student, you know.

I really like fish but crustaceans bother me a bit. I mean, crabs and lobsters and crawdads look like roaches! With the exoskeleton and antennae and all? Why is it ok to eat them just because they live in the ocean, rather than under your fridge? *shudder*

LOl..I thought the same thing. I call them the roaches of the the sea.

But "shellfish" as I prefer to call them when I am about to eat it is the only seafood I really like. Crab legs are so good.
Not big on "swimmers". Fish.
Something about the smell gets me.

Who likes sweet stuff?

I use to make this thing called dump cake. It is really goo.

1 can of cherry pie filling
1 can pineapple chunks
1 box WHITE cake mix
1 stick of butter
1 rectangle cake pan..LOL..I dont know the inches.

Dump can of pie filling in cake pan.
Drain pineapple and dump in cake pan.
Dump cake mix all over the top of the fruit so it is covered.
Cut the butter in pats and place on top of cake mix spaced half an inch or so.

Preheat oven to 375 or 400. I forget which one. Whatever temp you bake on.
I am not a baker nor a cooker.

And let bake until ckae mix on top is bubbly golden brown.

Why wait to let it cool when you throwsome vanilla ice cream in a bowl with a couple scoops of the dump cake.
And enjoy.

Very sweet and really good.

If you like more filling double fruit.

Hello,

I am new to this forum, but let me say I'm so glad to share such a passion with so many. I now have 47 days sober. The first week of sobriety I spent my nights perfecting homemade pasta, and pizza. Pasta making is one of those things you just have to practice to make perfect. And their is nothing like homemade crapes for cannelloni or Manicotti.

Too funny also, Mexican and Italian are also my absolutely favorite things to cook and eat.

Can't wait to talk food again soon.

Personally, I prefer my food cooked...no clams or oysters on half shell...no sushi. Looks like a lot of Italian food lovers here...so, I'll share a very simple way of doing homemade zeppolis. My son and I used to love to throw these together when we wanted a quick evening coffee/and while watching tv.

A tin of biscuits...the cheap ones will do just as well as Pillsbury. Sometimes we would stock up on them when they were maybe 5 tins for $1.00.

Heat a pot of cooking oil (medium sized sauce pan is OK). Roll each biscuit into a ball...carefully drop them into the hot oil...and just as carefully lift them out with a large spoon when they're golden brown...drain on paper towels or brown paper bag.

Put powdered sugar in a brown paper bag, and shake the mock zeppolis in the bag until coated. You can use a mixture of cinnamon and granulated sugar, if you prefer. Not quite the same, but close enough to memories of the Italian street fairs...MANGIARE!
