New in Recovery

Hello everyone,
My name is Alex and I'm a 24 y/o female from Pennsylvania. I'm looking to create a network of awesome sober people to talk to since I'm new at this. Anyone interested in chatting let me know. Also can someone fill me in on what most people use the site for? As in what should I be doing to meet people?
Thanks in advance for all the help, and I hope to hear from you all soon.
Alex

Hello Alex, and welcome to SR! Please continue reading and posting, before you know it you'll have a support network of friends here, it's a very busy site.

I use SR as an addition to my program of recovery, it helps me to stay sober and I enjoy sharing and carrying the message. We share lots of useful information, a few tears, many good laughs, and in the process we get to know a lot of great people in recovery from all addictions.

Hope you stick around. This is an awesome place to be!

Hi and Welcome,

I'm glad you found us.

This is a peer-support message board and we help each other and ourselves as we recover from alcohol and drugs. There is lots of support here.

Keep coming back, you'll make sober friends here for sure.

I re-charge my spirituality here many times each day.

:)

Hi, Welcome to SR! My name's Judy, I'm a recovering addict/alcoholic. I have recently celebrated 3 years in Recovery and I use this site as one of my many support tools. I can come on here and share what's going on with me as well as offer my experience, strength and hope to those who may be struggling.

And as far a meeting new people? You just did it! You introduced yourself and feel free to share as much or as little as you like about yourself. We have a wonderful women's forum as well as groups that are specific to whatever you are in Recovery from . . . substance abuse, alcoholism, if you have a friend or family member who's disease of addiction has effected your life or the follies, just for laughs or thoughts.

Salutations Alex,
There's loads to read and do from many varied approaches to recovery and related issues.

If you can name any root vegetables, your input would be welcome in the, 'Name 5 game' in the Cafe?

I use this site for encouragement and advice on issues relating to my recovery from alcohol addiction. I draw strength from posts of others on how they handled their addiction and I draw encouragement in staying sober myself. There's so much support and friendship here! Welcome to the site! Glad to have you!

Welcome! I recently found this site as well...and find it to be extremely helpful. Just browse through the threads...you'll find instant inspiration.

I'm also a 24 year old female...and I used to live in PA by the way! :)

Angelbaby, Welcome to SR :)

I use this site in addition to prayer as my program of recovery.

Welcome to the site Alex.

I started to use this site 4 days into my first detox as a way to speak to people about my recovery. I have found the people on here to be warm and welcoming and full of advice, the best of which got me to AA.

The community and AA help me to do something that I am unable to do on my own, which is to be sober.
