New to Recovery..
Hi, I'm Liz and 28 years old and an alcoholic in recovery - I did a stint in detox last December and relapsed in January this year and have been fighting it ever since.
For me I find that it is not so much one day at a time, but more that I break the day into segments, so sometimes it is more like one or two hours time.
I hope that I can share some of my experiences with you here.

I also had to take my "one day at a time" approach in smaller increments, like hours or minutes. But that makes not drinking bearable - just don't drink today!

Welcome to SR liz Breaking down your recovery into manageable bits is good, I'm just learning to enjoy the process rather than the end result. It's actually quite cool to be a work in progress. I hope you stick around, lots of support here. Keep posting
Welcome to SR Liz.
I found that when I quit fighting and surrendered is when I got better. I lost the desire to drink at that point. There is a good thread here "thoughts on surrender" that you might take a look at.
