a) make an incomplete or partial amends
b) make an indirect amends
c) make no amends
d) wait until the amends will not hurt them or others, and make it at that later date.

But seriously...I so far am not making direct amends to people who i spoke badly of (but they don't know it)...i think it would cause more harm. I do as was suggested before and my amend is in correcting the wrong that i caused by my remarks by speaking to the person I made the remarks to.
