Hi! New in town!
Hi all!
I'm new to these forums and wanted to say hi. I haven't had a drink for over six months this time. Been struggling for years with varying degrees of success and time. Longest stretch was eleven years.
My biggest downfall is sleep. Never been a good sleeper. Started to drink at first to sleep. I think we all know that doesn't work but in the diseased mind of mine, I always have to try it out.
I've found a lot of support here, reading your stories. I respect you all for trying so hard and being so honest.

Welcome and good for you having six months sober!
I also used alcohol to help me sleep. I had always had insomnia and it was during an especially stressful time. I was in a difficult job, had two teenagers at home (one of them dangerously rebellious) and a husband who travelled all the time. I desparately needed to sleep and turned to alcohol. It worked very well for a very short time and I was devastated to find out how quickly I became addicted.
I still have a lot of trouble sleeping, so maybe I'll see you on the boards in the wee hours of the morning.

Welcome here, Congrats on your 6 months!
Have you ever had a sleep study, i did, turns out I have pretty severe sleep apnea. Now I sleep with a machine (Cpap) I feel like a scuba diver, but it works GREAT!
