Everyone - thanks for all of the feedback. I had quit smoking after 8 years which was a difficult thing for me. What I'm learning from folks is that it seems while you quit smoking and are mostly urge free after a year or so, I'll likely always have some degree of urge with drinking.

What I'm doing differently this time:
  • told girlfriend I have a problem
  • joined SR
  • removing friends that drink
  • journaling

Things I am addressing this week:
  • need greater support from sig-other
  • need better information on recovery
  • need to find a secular sponsor group here in Austin

Day: 6 and feeling rather good!!

Mindset, and believing 100% that I'm an alcoholic... That is, truly and honestly taking Step 1.. Looking back, I don't think I really believed that I'm an alcoholic..
