I put my dog down today

it happened so fast. He was fine this morning but started convulsing this afternoon. The vet said there wasn't much choice in the matter. So today I let my best friend and protector go, a Rotwieller named Max. He retained his dignity up until the end. I hope right now he's crossing the Rainbow Bridge.

We only had seven years...I don't really get that, it's not very long. It will be very difficult to no longer see him sitting in my office all day. But he is not hurting anymore, he looked so peaceful when it was done. I am so thankful he is not hurting anymore.

Chi thank you girl, that means a lot to me. I will be ok. Actually the whole experience has made me stronger I think. But there will be a void in my life for a very long time. You guys are helping out beyond what I could have ever hoped.

Oh Sweetie!! You know he's waiting for you...((HUGS)). He's romping with all the others now until you're time to pick him up again. I have a rottie mix named max in my foster care. A goofy guy and he'll probably never get adopted. Terrified of strangers.

My heart goes out to you. <3

I hope you all give your dogs (or cats) a big hug right now. Just hang on to 'em. My Max made it clear he wanted his head in my arms at the end. Just stay close to your pets and pay attention to what they try to tell you. In an odd way I feel that I have even more strength to make the right decisions in life. I know no matter what, I will not drink today.

God bless,
Fallin

fallingdown~ my heart goes out to you today.
I had to put my furbaby to sleep during that whole pet food scare/ crisis. He was only ten years old and I swear he was the best buddy I've ever had---he kept me sober more than once!

Six months later this little emaciated cat came begging at the door, at first just giving us a little "belly", then boldly walking in like he owned the place. There is never replacement for what we've lost, but there is always a chance to redirect our love when some being (regardless of paws or limbs) needs our help.

Big hugs to you!

I'm terribly sorry for your loss! I too feel your pain -when I hear of things like this, I think of my past pets too - I cannot imagine life without my little brat mix breed doggy, but like whiskerkissed said, they're waiting for us.....
Try not to think about it too much - it hurts too much.

It was sweet that he wanted to be with you at the end - he has accepted that he needs to go wait for you at the other side

I'm so sorry about Max, but I'm glad you were able to comfort him at the end and that you didn't drink.

I'm going to find my furbabies (3 cats), right now, and give them some extra TLC. It leaves a huge void in our hearts when one of our furbabies goes, but we never forget the unconditional love they gave us and how much joy they brought to our lives.

Hugs and prayers!

Amy
