I put my dog down today
my heart aches for you...I have lost so many dear friends over the years...so hard , but yes, he is over the rainbow bridge, playing with all our other dearly loved furbabies,...take gentle care...prayers for you and Max....
Thank you all so much for the condolences. I really thought we'd have more time with him but that's not that's not how it worked out. He hasn't been well for quite a while but we were managing to keep him going with medication and lots of love. Then yesterday out of the blue he just couldn't walk anymore. We had to carry him into the vets office and she said it was time to let him go. It was very peaceful and not nearly as traumatic as I expected it to be. He was really a marvelous dog, very dignified and always a gentleman to the very end. And he was our protector for many years. I'm really going to miss him. Thank you all again.
It is so hard to let them go, yet we care so much for them that we cannot allow them to suffer. We love them for life and if that means letting them go, then we let them go. Our love can't tolerate letting them suffer just to keep them with us.
You will see your Max again. He is waiting for you in God's Meadow over that Rainbow Bridge. Whole, healthy, happy - just as you want him to be.
I am so sorry for your loss. I know how much it hurts. But you did the right thing, the loving thing, the unselfish thing. You did what was best for Max. May God bless you for your great love.

Being your great friend, Max wouldn't want to see you in pain - or be the cause of it. He'd want you to remember the happy times and look forward to a wonderful reunion one day. He's up there, having fun, but keeping one eye on you, Fallingdown..... Love, Joanie
