Hi anna,

I am an alcoholic, so no chance of that happening. I have realized what has caused me to want to numb feelings, events, things has to be addressed. I am actually very happy about this. I use to bury it with food from when I was young. After gastric bypass I found a new addiction. I tried to bury so much for so long that it finally caught up with me. And I am learning that I have to forgive myself. Not sure I can forgive others just yet, but it's a start...at some point I know I will need to, but it will be hard...cuz right now I want to kick the sh*t out of them, which I guess is a good thing.

Thanks for all the support.

sounds like you are headed in the right direction Flgrl....i had to admit how angry i was for a long time before the forgiveness....give yourself all the time you need and use any and all resources you can (except of alchoholl, food, etc.)

Hang in there and keep us posted and help us all out :)

FL

Whatever the issues, accepting them is first, addressing them is next.

It sounds like you are determined to seek resolution. That's wonderful. Some of us tend to "stuff things down" over time. There is always an effect that can take many different forms in different people. Sometimes multiple effects.

Some (like me) are able to "stuff down" things for many, many years before the beast shows up. I envy those with less tolerance, who deal with this stuff when they are young.

You have great spirit. You have what it takes to become whole again. Let your courage develop. You will find that there are many to share with, no matter what the source of the hurt. True safety is not achieved by avoidance, but by getting rid of that which threatens us. Like any parasite, the demons cannot survive outside of us. Let them go.

That's wonderful flgirl - I come here for my drinking problem and see a shrink for all the other crazy stuff.

You had me a little worried with your thread title tho. We would miss you around here.

Anna,

I am happy because I have begun to realize that I deserve a whole lot more than I was willing to think I did. And that I have to help myself in order to be happy!
