Bottoms Part 76
Close season is a pain and I don't know about your team but Celtic always wait till the last minute to sign anybody significant. We got a young Irish lad who's supposed to be really good but he's not really been tested at any significant level.
We're rumoured to have abut £20,000,000 to spend and the board has said it's doing loads of work behind the scenes to acquire some good players - we were linked with the Russian striker Pavylchenko (I think that's how it's spelled, too lazy to Google it ) about a week and a half ago so I hope something happens there.
Also looks as if two of our best players - goalie Artur Boruc (wanted by Arsenal and at one point Inter Milan) and Aiden McGeady (wanted by Newcastle and Spurs) might be staying after all.
So fingers crossed we get some transfer news soon. How about Sheffield United, and news on transfers?
I am occasionally a font of good ideas. Only occasionally though.
We seem to not be bothering with anyone. One of the players we were linked with has gone to Norwich as long as we keep James Beattie an sign a midfielder and central defender we stand a good chance this season, as we were averaging over 2 points a game when we got rid of the useless Robson and brought Blackwell back.
Pavlyuchenko (sp) is a quality player. I think he would do well for most sides out of the top four in England as well. Hopefully Celtic get drawn with Liverpool or Man U in their group as the games with Man U and Liverpool over the past few years were great and the atmosphere was awesome, especially against 'Pool.

Yeah, I think we only stand a chance of signing him because apparently he doesn't want to be on the fringes of a bigger team and would like regular first team football. But you know how transfer rumours work, most of them might as well be on an episode of Dr.Who.
Always a good atmosphere against the big teams from down south, like you say Liverpool and Man Utd are great - against 'Pool is always something special though.
Always remember this from the last time we played Man Utd in the group stages:-

He did it to them just before that too at Old Trafford.
He's a special player, converts around 80% of these dead balls.
