Hermit Crabs LOOSE!
I have an idea. Leave all the doors inside your house open, but keep the doors leading outside closed so they can't escape the house. Then set up a make-shift beach in your sitting room in front of the TV - if you have a DVD with loads of beach scenes and sound effects then you're on to a winner.
Then put some blankets and a picnic on the floor and just fall asleep on the floor (with your beach DVD playing in a loop) dressed for the beach, leaving your bare feet exposed.
You'll wake up in the morning and I can almost guarantee, they'll be there - clinging to your toes.

I dunno if the beach blanket deal is gonna work...I know what those things are thinking (yes...I'm now the Hermit Crab Whispererrr) "Go ahead lady...look all ya want! We ain't going back into THAT cage until those kids leave for college!"
Can't really blame 'em.

I just "deep cleaned" the girls room...no crabs.
They just need a high humidity...a lil water...and I guess...whatever the kids throw on the floor (as food).
I think by NOT finding them...my mother-in-law has MORE ammo...like the damn things can survive in my house THIS LONG!!!
Geesh...
Oh..here's the funny part...my huzband just informed me there were actually FOUR of 'em!
Now I look really bad...

oh I don't know about the turtle comment. My ex had one - not sure what kind, but he was huge. kept him on the deck in a kids swimming pool. one night it rained (a lot) and the pool overflowed and in the morning Patrick was ......gone......
searched everywhere, no clue where he could have gone. poor Patrick.
(did I mention my ex wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer?...)
