New Computer Old Habits

Nothing like getting yer hands on a new (albeit used) computer. Wonderful what one can do these days on a new system. I started out on the old DOS back in Piedmont, CA. HAD to program Space Invaders BEFORE you could play it...YES...I'm THAT old. Now the programs have become so easy....and the screens sooo large and clear. What a wonderful time to be alive and SOBER. To think a few years back...I was hooked up to an intibator (breathing machine) and tied to a hospital bed. Selfish indeed....especially to myself.
Now I am sitting at the most wonderful computer I have EVER bought. I worked hard...got CLEAN and SOBER...and am in the process of raising some wonderful kids. Husband and dog taboot!
Funny how life changes...just when you thought it was all over.
Thank GOD! I am alive and SOBER.
It's really THE best gift I could ever give myself...THAT and the MAC!
Keep HOPE alive...all day...just for today...one day at a time.
PEACE BE WITH YA'LL!
The Bitz...is back in bizness.....

When I was in college studying Electrical Engineering, Personal Computers had not yet been invented!!!!! We dinked around with a Kim-1 Microprocessor. The DEC-PDP-8 had toggle switches (8 of them for an eight bit word) to toggle data into the processor.

So yes, I am very proficient with a Slide Rule. Geeks Rule!!!!!

Wecome back Bitz. Nice post......

Lisa

I had a friend that had a Lisa...no shite!
The old ASIC is still near and dear to my heart...never forget when my dad had his first computer on the block...hell...the whole neighborhood. The monitor was like three feet long and the black screen with the green code still exist deep in my hard drive memory.

My first computer was a texas instrument keyboard type thing you hooked up to the tv. All I did was play mouse hunt on it. sorta like pac man. Not sure what else you could do with it.
First time I got internet was in 1999. I quit doing hard drugs and stopped running the streets for 9 mos because I got addicted to the net. How funny is that?

Does anyone remember the old Spelling Bee machine? It was red....looked like a huge calculater and had yellow buttons...the voice was total cyber! I think it had a lil book that came with it...and you went to spel the stuff it asked...I'd love to see one of those things again....I begged my parents for that thing and they had to save up to get it. Had it for years....NOT THAT IT HELPED MY SPELLING ANY!

I remember Speak and Spell! Do you remember Merlin? The red freaking portable computer? It looked like a phone handset or something. My sister had one and never let me use it!

Yeah, I think we did, I'm a bit of a science nut...however, I totally respect your beliefs too. Maybe we really didn't go, but I like to dream....
