Where are you from?
Must be the same thunderstorm heading our way. Suppose to be a good one with high winds and hail.
Cant wait!!
Wish I could say sweating felt good. I just got out of the shower sweating. How does that happen?
I lived for a little while in Pigeon Forge Tennessee when I was 16. The great Smokey Mountains. Now that place is serene.
Worked at Dixie Stampede as a saloon girl. HA!! Thats was fun.
Home of Dolly Parton.

I was born in Detroit (WTG Redwings!) and raised in the suburbs before moving to the South Florida Gold Coast, where I've lived since. My last visit to downtown Detroit was to Mario's for lunch in '98. I still love to visit Mich.
And....pfft! I do not have bugs in my house thanks to monthly pesticide treatments around the outside base of my house. The few that do make it in through open doors die quickly.
I love it here and it's not too hot yet despite the drought we've had. I have hummingbirds and butterflies in my yard year round and couldn't imagine not living close to the ocean.
If I were to move within the state it would be either to the Upper Keys (think coconut palms on sandy beaches) or to Lake Wales in Central Florida (think of orange groves, small lakes and rivers)- both areas have a slower paced, less urbanized lifestyle that I appreciate.

Family from Upstate New York, but grew up near Wilmington, Delaware (East Coast) or as we fondly refer to it: "Dull-A-Where?!?" For the past 2 yrs. I've been living in Ocean City, Maryland - being near the ocean is a dream come true. It is, however, stifling again today - almost 100. Gyps, you are so right about the Jersey Tomatoes & Corn & of course the shore. Poor Jersey gets no respect. Loved Stone Harbor when I was growing up-we always went there for the summer. Chiy - long ago I lived near Parris Island, So. Carolina for a year. The first day I got there an enormous Palmetto Bug was in my kitchen sink. I had never, ever seen anything like it. I ran screaming for my neighbor (who was from Connecticut) & she came over and drowned it! Us Northern girls didn't fare too well in that climate! And then there were the regular roaches - still have nightmares about that era.
Thanks Rowan, for taking my mind off my troubles with this. It makes me feel a little closer to everyone.

I live in Ny and it is all Yankees and Red sox totally die hard country here.
They dont play when it comes to those teams.
A lady ran down and killed a guy a couple months ago in the city because she was a sox fan and they were in a bar and the guy was making fun of the sox. So she ran him over and killed him outsde in the parking lot.
That is way nuts.
I like football..Jacksonville...I like the animal print..Typical girl answer..Hate the dolphins.

I'm a kiwi
A born and breed New Zealander.
And when I say kiwi, I mean, like the bird, not like the fruit.
I live 20 mins north of the capital, Wellington, in a city/town called Porirua. Locals call it P Town because a lot of people living here abuse the drug (we call) P. I think in the US it would be called 'crack.'
Our city solgan is 'Porirua it's amazing'.
We are also known for having a large 'multi culture' community and (I am not being racist) we have a LARGE pacific island community.
I think New Zealand is known internationaly for it's sheep and maybe our rugby team???? The All Blacks. I am not a rugby fan so this is just what I've been told. ha,ha.

Great thread, Rowan! I'm orginally from western NY. Moved down here about 3 years ago. I live on the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida, now. The Gulf and the beaches are some of the most beautiful things I have ever seen! What a paradise to become sober in!

Thanks Rowan!
I'm from the South. Mostly!
Dallas GA is 25 miles from Atlanta
About 8,000 people who are "y'all come...ya hear?" friendly.
Historically ...it was a battlefield in the Civil War
CSA troops fortified the area in a desperate effort
to delay Sherman on his march to the sea.
So a village of 50 trademen and farmers were
surrounded with thousands of fighters.
Leaving 5,400 dead and wounded.
Historical markers are plentiful and tours popular.
Before GA.....I lived in southern IL. and SE MO.
then on to AK....AL...KS...VA...MD....FL
I lived the longest in and it's my
hearts home......Washington D.C.

Good idea, interesting to read where everyone is from.
I live in the west side of Michigan. Ice fishing is a big deal here. Hunting is also a plus with people I know. Some family members even hunt bear in the U.P.
I am not into shooting things myself, just thought I would add that.

Man CMC..I am so jealous..The keys are beautiful..it is alot prettier there than the rest of florida. The water seems to be crystal clear and there is so much to do.
It is like one big paradise.
AAHHHH!!! Oh how I wish I were there.
We did alot of fishing there. Caught baracuda. Saw dolphins swimming right nest to our boat. Lots os beautiful fish/ Alot of coral too.
Geez..I am so ready to just pack up and go home.

Anna Toronto is great.. I went there on business in 1998 and stayed at historic hotel (can't remeber the name) went to the bar to drink late and the there was only one other person at the bar...Ron Glass (Det. Harris) from the old tv show Barney Miller...He was there filming a movie....We got smashed, he was really a funny guy!
Yes AZ is nice! I did live in Sedona for 3 months...It is amazing, but the town shuts down at 8:00 (well back in 1993 it did) and could not that that slow of a pace...back then being an all night party person... great place to retire!
Cambridge, England. Place of learning....punting on the river...provincial...conservative...very pleasant, cosy little place. Probably there is some 'cottageing' going on here too, but we try and keep it from the children.
