Personally I think there are better ways. It seems pretty abusive to me. Smokings harmful *especially* to kids - there are better ways to send a message or teach a lesson than to get them to smoke a pack LOL.

and...it doesn't work worth a lick, at least not in my experience - I can remember getting sick on both tobacco and alcohol - still become addicted to both in a big way.

Abusive, and likely to backfire--wouldn't it just breed resentment and distrust?

OK - sorry....forgot to turn on my sense of humor

I'm not sure how. When I started the only thing anyone was going to get me to do was hide it. My son started, but not till after highschool. My brother started but not till about 50.

I just try to be available to help fund the meds and aids to get off them if he ever decides to quit. Of course I'm a bad example as I smoke.

One thing I know never worked was all the horror stories about dying. Don't know why, but they only phaze me if I'm sick and having trouble breathing.

Sorry I can't give you any real help on this.

Well all I can share is what not to do.

My mother and father both smoked.

I smoked!

All 4 of my older kids smoked but thank God they quit.

I no longer smoke, nor does my wife, I am praying that my 2 youngest, 16, do not decide to start smoking. At least I am setting a good example for them.

I think it's best to lead by example. I quit smokeless tobacco a few years ago and pray that my children never pick up the habit. So far both of them find it disgusting.

You might find some helpful suggestions on this site WhyQuit - the Internet's leading cold turkey quit smoking resource Some of the stories are what compelled me to quit after 27 years.
