Suicide Attempt
I've just now read this thread, Suki. I'm so glad you are sober and clear-headed to face whatever comes out of this. I commend you for holding on to your sobriety during this time. Brighter days are ahead for your family.

Suki- My prayers are with you and your daughter. I hope you have heard something now. I attempted suicide about 7 years ago. My family also had a difficult time getting information from the hospital. I was put on a 3 day hold and transferred to another facility. Once I was there they were able to get a lot more information.
Good job on staying sober!!!

Suki, my daughter was also 18 when she tried to take her life a couple years ago. I understand the pain and frustration and am very glad you're not drinking over this. I will keep you both in my prayers.

I completely understand your need to keep somewhat of a distance for your own recovery, but I also know that your daughter has a serious problem that cannot be ignored.
One of my friends succeeded in taking his own life a few months ago.It was so difficult to understand why.I just kept wishing there was something more I could have done to help save him.If I knew your daughter, I would do my best to put her in the hands of people who could help. You did a wondeful thing getting sober, don't let this bring you down. She is going to need you to be clear minded when she comes home, and you are going to need to be able to make some choices without the fog of alcohol.

Hey Suki, so sorry about this, but you are doing a great job by not drinking over it. Staying calm and letting the proffesionals deal with it is probably the best thing to do. The fact that she called you instead of going through with it is a GREAT sign! Stay strong hon. xoxo
I just got home from the hospital. I went to visit my daughter after work. They have put her on Geodon and Celexa. They are keeping her overnight to check for side effects. She said they may discharge her tomorrow if she handles the drug okay. She was very sleepy when I got there, so I only stayed about an hour. She had dinner while I was there, and she ate pretty good.
Thank you again for all your support through this. I really love you guys!

Sounds like quite an ordeal you are going through, Suki.
That which doesn't slay you makes you stronger, I believe.
You are exhibiting a great deal of strength as this progesses.
Impressive. Commendable.

Thanks, everyone. My daughter is home now (this thread is a few days old) and appears to be doing better. I never really know how she's doing, but, her attitude seems to have improved.
