Maybe not so much of a sorry ship than one that just ran aground. Get it back out in the waters and try again!

Unless of course you meant "I'm such a sorry shi!", as in "two shi!s that pass in the night"...

Did you ask yourself why?
And "because I'm an alcoholic", is not the right answer.

Detox only removes the alcohol from your system and helps with withdrawals. You need more than that; you need intensive rehab to learn coping skills.

Hi ShawMac,

I hope you can learn from this experience and then move forward from here. Stopping drinking is just the beginning of the journey.

Please be careful . . I'm sure you more than likely have benzos in your system from the detox and adding alcohol is so dangerous.

I just want to also encourage you not to give up.

You're not a sorry ship. Just haven't found your lighthouse yet.

God Bless,
Judy

Insanity: Doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results. How does one stay sober if they keep taking the next drink?

Not taking another drink is the first step, to my knowledge nobody has ever died from not drinking again, assuming you have a safe detox. A plan for your recovery is an absolute necessity.

I'm glad you're back, and I hope you're willing to take another run at sobriety.
No sorry ships around here, just people like yourself who are looking for something better.

This post from ShawMac makes me sad because it reminds me of finding this Place: wanting so badly for there to be someone who understood and could offer me hope that I didn't have.

I reminds me so much that I can see myself like it is in Pictures: Sitting at night in our Study after everyone was asleep, trying so hard to read the Screen and the effort it took to only type on the right keys and make the right English spellings. I was so worried that no one would understand what I was writing. And sometimes I was not sure if I was writing into the right place! (I have other places on the internet where I like to go to discuss movies, books, and religion also. Every time I would make a Post in the beginning I would have a minor panic just after as I would think "My God! Did I put it in the right web page? Or did I just confess that I was a drunk to the entire forum for lay catechists?".)

As much as I cringe at these Pictures, I think these are good Memories to have because already I begin to forget sometimes.

So, ShawMac your suffering on this day has some small Worth. I know God is looking after you as He has for me. Thank you.

Pax Christi,
Dietrich
