Our Deepest Fear

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us."

This is written by Marianne Williamson.

When I was newly sober and beginning recovery, I realized that I had lived my whole life in the dark. I realized that I had made all my decisions, big and small, based on fear. What I didn't know, was that I was terrified of the light. In the light, people would be able to see me, I would be able to see me, the real me. I had done my best to hide from the real me for decades. All of you who are in early recovery are beginning to step into the light and to look at yourselves with deep honesty. This is the beginning of the journey that will bring you peace and contentment.

Yeah - it's pretty scarey too! But worth it in the end.

Thank you Anna
I am beginning to understand that. In fact when I look back to why I started drinking after seven years sober, it was because I wanted to hide from myself and everyone else. I was ashamed and heart boken for a decision I had to make and the drinking covered up that pain.

Thanks for the share.

I think once a person recognizes how one is strong and filled with everything he needs, a whole new road begins....But it can only be done when one is willing
