20 yr old daughter still coming and going at mom's 'crash pad'. Asked her yesterday to please wash dishes for me. Dishes still not done. Asked her just now, but she has 'plans'. I'll wash the damn dishes myself just to have clean silverware.

Now saying since she doesn't eat here (she does) it's "not my job". I only asked it as a favor to me. But don't know why I expect her help, she's quite selfish.

least -

once...'in a galaxy far away'

( I was in my early twenties... and pretty dang volatile back then)
I'd been asking the kids to do the dishes (and ex hubby) for like a week.
I was working at a law firm and not home much whilst we prapared this HUGE Supreme court thing ...
anyhow -
after about I dunno - maybe fivef days -
I came home
saw the mess
dragged the trash can from outside into the kitchen

and proceeded to BREAK EVERY DISH IN THE HOUSE.

I went out and bought 'solo' dishes and cups...

and my family
was forced to eat off thsoe for the next ...
I dunno
may have been a year.

when I finally DID go out and buy dishes
you should have SEEN the enthusiasm to keep that kitchen neat.

LOL!

If you want something done right (now), do it yourself. I did the dishes, for the last time. My favorite of the beatitudes is this one: Blessed are those who expect nothing, for they shall not be disappointed!

I shall have a little chat with her tonite...

The Twelve Traditions of Whiner's Anonymous

1. Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon W.A. unity.

2. For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority—the owners, Administrators and Moderators, Greeters and Members of this site as they may express themselves in our group conscience.

3. Our leaders are but trusted servants; but they do govern. The only requirement for W.A. membership is SR membership and a desire to share some whiny ESH.

4. This group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other whiners or W.A. as a whole.

5. Each group has but one primary purpose—to whine about things in a safe environment, have fun, blow off steam and then let it go while moving onward in recovery.

6. A W.A. group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the W.A. name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest those who do not wish to whine or read other people's whines divert us from our primary purpose.

7. Every W.A. group ought to not to be fully self-supporting, and gratefully accept this venue given to us for the purpose of whining.

8. Whiner's Anonymous should remain forever non-professional, but all of our whiners shall remain as special workers.

9. W.A., as such, ought never be organized; because our members need to whine about the ups and downs of their lives.

10. Whiner's Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; because most people on the outside ignore whiners anyway.

11. Our public relations policy is based on whining rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of real life if that is what we choose.

12. Anonymity of screen names is optional for those who choose to use real names ever reminding us to place principles before personalities and respect those from other fellowships. What we whine about here stays forever on the internet.

All right, I'm joining you ...Least, I think we have the same 20-year old daughter cloned or something. She whines (more than this), is crazy messy around the house, doesn't pick up after herself, follows me to the store just to get me to buy her junk food; although I pay for her college, she won't lift a finger around here to help out...doesn't even pick up her own room. And tonight, she's at boyfriends' parents house and hasn't even checked in with me, so I can't sleep. Dumb kid. I told her yesterday she has 2 weeks to get a full time job for the summer so she can at least pay her own car insurance and some of her college this fall, not doing this free ride thing next year. She actually wanted me to pay for her to go to school over the summer too, and she knows how broke we've been. She's just gonna have to work a little and help, after all, she is an adult. Wah!

I have a feeling that HP put you and step-brat together to learn from each other. The brat has grown on me over time here, so I'm kinda glad you are giving him another another chance.

I have had a somewhat whineless week....what can I say, the whines just didn't pan out. It was a "government reporting" week for me, and what is normally a nightmare went very well. I had my six-month review (I HATE reviews) and it went well, rain was predicted all week and it didn't much happen and my ducks and geese all had their babies, brought them to parade through the yard...and not one of them pooped on my deck!

Ya see? I'm just whineless and for the Queen of Whines it's as if I have lost my kingdom.

My name is Queeny and I am a Whiner. Dang right I AM! I am powerless over whines and my life has become manageable....help me please???

HEY!!! I think that was a whine, yes? The Queen Lives!!!!

You okay Impurrfect? Wrecked cars are one thing, but wrecked Whiners may need first aid. Don't worry, Queen Codie will take care of you.

Yeah, I'm okay, but my car isn't. The car is old, has a lot of miles, so I'm hoping insurance will still fix it....otherwise, I'll be making 4 more car payments on a car I don't have, and be 40 miles from work with no car. BUT, I'm alive and I'm clean, so it's okay

Wow! A Whining Forum? Cool!!

right up my alley! actually, I just want to connect with some
fellow SODS who have given up the sauce and swap horror and/or
success stories.

my story (so far) is, I just quit. I didn't go to AA or anywhere. I just
decided I was sick of drinking after ...well, a long time. decades at
least.

it has been about a month since I had so much as a sniff of a vodka
bottle or a sip of terrible beer. I feel ok. I'm not sure I get it.

I'm trying to be 'light' about it all, but I am actually serious.
my "WHINE" is that I do not really know jack (expletive) about
alcohol cessation, and withdrawl.

Is a month long enough to be fairly sure I won't get the DT's?
or could it be another month before my body tilts?

I honestly have no idea. I'm kind of afraid to go to sleep. which
isn't a HUGE problem, considering the insomnia.

First symptoms were extreme crankiness and BAD moods. now, I am
getting headaches but do not know if it is related to abstinence or if it
is merely coincidental.

any feedback, much appreciated. thanks!! ... Bob.

(Bob? musta been hammered when I signed up in 2006....)

my name aint Bob and I never seen this forum in my life. at least,
not that I recall

pretty funny ay? too bad I'm not kidding..............:wtf2
