Smile sleep??

hello! im starting day five today. im very proud of myself. im starting to feel like the old me i semi remember.

my problem though....i cant sleep. ive had maybe 8 hours of sleep in the last four days and its half an hour here and there. the slightest things are waking me up (and im the type that could sleep through a tornado!) im having nightmares and strange dreams too. (really. the other day, i dreamed that i was compulsively changing pants. seriously. ) is this related to my not drinking? it would make sense ...i mean...mostly before i just passed out. its driving me crazy though. any tips or anything? does this pass? i need a good long nap!

Oh yes, it should pass, but it might take longer you would like.

Your sleep patterns will eventually restore themselves, so just try to be patient.

Blitzen,

Congrats on day 5!! That's not an easy thing you've just done! You should be proud of yourself.

I hope Carol's link helps. I bet it will. I've never experienced sleep problems but have always imagined that they would be really torturous. Sleep is such an important thing and the lack thereof can really effect every aspect of your life. So, I guess I'm just posting to offer moral support. Hang in there. Hopefully, you'll find a solution either through your doctor or through a self-help remedy.

I did start having very vivid and strange dreams when I initially got sober. I think a lot of us have that experience. And drinking dreams. Ugh.

Oh:yes I could relate to you I'm 4 month clean and still
can't get a good night rest anything wakes me up
then to find my sleep is like trying to find Gold:rof

my Question? to you are you consulting your doc
or psychiatry cause after having 4 month on my belt
I finally got to see my regular Doc
and the psychiatry
my psychiatry ask me how do I sleep if I could sleep
I never tough he wil ask me that cause I was there
to get my Bipolar treated but Thanx God he ask

cause I told him no I can't sleep so he prescribe me
some meds

But first thing is first consult with a license Doc,
and then have him know you are on recovery tell him
he will either send you to see a psychiatry or psychologist
just see your Doctor first good luck Buddy
on your clean time
