Beginning Day 3...

Holy s**t, I didn't know this would be so hard! I've spent the past 2 days shaking, sweating, crying, angry, and panicking... Today is more of the same, but a little better on the physical side of things.

I decided to start my own recovery at home even after advice on here to consult medical care. Well, when my doc said she couldn't see me til next Wed., I knew I couldn't hold out that long and keep drinking every day for another week. I'm a small 32 year old woman who drank about a pint of vodka every night; of course, while resisting that morning drink so people wouldn't think I was an alcoholic. I couldn't wait for 10:00 when my husband went to bed to start my private drinking party.

Well, just introducing myself again... Can't wait to get further along in this process.

Also, I've been having green and superfood smoothies (loaded with natural vitamins) that are helping out tremendously, if that helps anyone else...

Did you happen to mention going cold turkey to the receptionist while trying to get an appointment with your doctor? If not, maybe you can try back and let the doctor know why you want to be seen?

Keep drinking the smoothies... those are waaaaaaaaaay better than than alcohol. It will get easier .

Most people find the physical withdrawal over by day 5.
Drinking a lot of water will help flush out alcohol.

Glad you are here again...

Thanks for all of your kind words and wonderful welcome...

Gypsytears: I did not tell the receptionist I was going cold turkey, but I did speak to my doc before about the plans to quit soon. There were no openings. I figured that I can handle what is to come for the next few days. After that, I'll be under care and will begin an AA program for the emotional part of the problem. Definitely don't want to slip into relapse and start this process all over again.
