A Day in the Life...

Then -

10:00 p.m. - crawl into bed and pass out within seconds.
2:00 a.m. - jerk awake, heart pounding parched with thirst. Lie there for next two hours wishing I could go back to sleep and wishing even more desperately that I would stop drinking so much.
4:00 a.m. - finally fall asleep again.
5:30 a.m. - husband gets up to go running. Silently curse him for waking me up.
6:15 a.m. - wake up again. First thought is "oh sh*&%.". Stagger into bathroom and recoil in horror as I catch sight of puffy face. Get day started complete with yelling at kids repeatedly to hurry up, growling at anyone near me ... and so the day began.

Now -
10:00 p.m. - go to bed and fall asleep.
5:30 a.m. - vaguely hear husband get up. Roll over and go back to sleep immediately.
6:15 a.m. - wake up, stretch, lie there feeling happy for a while and get up. Face looks pretty darn good in the mirror. Get day started with no (OK, well only a little) yelling or growling and here I am!

16 days and counting!

Thanks Hope. This is a great reminder of some of the things that I tend to take for granted after some sober time. Those nights & mornings...ugh!

Great work on 16 days!
