I got it to work, then I couldn't do it again LOL
Can I put in the url off of any image that I google? or do I need to go through a specific site to find images? I think I have the how-to part down, but the last couple I tried just resulted in a tiny red x in my post.

I've noticed some sites won't allow you to direct link like that with URLs, like Flickr...and others, like photobucket obviously want you to log in there and use their codes...
also watch when you cut and paste URLs you only have one 'http:' in there

yes, I saw my double http: goof-up haha. ok I understand now what you are saying (I think...) I am inserting the url, but since I'm not signed in or it's in some other way restricted by whatever site I'm pulling it from, it just gives me the little red x...is that right? also, can I use an image that's on my drive and follow the same procedure?
ok so I will try tinypic
thank you dee

Most sites are ok - it's probably the double http.
Using something like tinypic, imageshack etc is fine.
you can sometimes use the 'manage attachments' button when you post, to add a pic (you can't use that in quick reply mode tho, and the pic can't be too big).
The server problems at the moment might make that process tricky tho - it's probably best not to use that method too much to avoid server overload

Soberlicious, those {IMG} tags tell the forum elves to go to the internet location you pointed to on the www, get the picture there, and show it here. So, yes, you can point to any picture you choose to, but, as you guessed, you have to put it on the www first.
This means uploading it to a picture host website like tinypic, or photobucket. Next, you copy the web address of the picture (a.k.a. the URL), paste between those img tags, and your uncle is Bob.

My brain is too fried to try. Will ask my son to do it for me whenever he wakes up. Everyone has such great pictures. I want to be "another bozo on the bus" (saying from around here) too. Tune in tomorrow for further adventures of "As the Stomach Turns."
Queen of Emma I planted where I work. Giving it a try from tinypic:
