Last Night
Hi. My name is Larry and I'm an alcoholic.
Last night I had 71 days of sobriety. After a long day at work (12) hours I decided to take up an offer from a good looking blond lady friend of mine to go see a hardcore death Metal band down at one of the local clubs. I was told the whole gang would be there and when I arrived they were all there. It was great to see them all together again. When I walked into the club it was a rush. I mean a big time rush. Up on the stage was a Guitar player beating the sh@t out of guitar like I have never seen before. He was truly amazing.
I may be biased because he is my 20 year old son Brian. The blond is my wife and the gang was my 2 sons Garret, Bret, nephews Bryce, Dallas down in the mosh pit with their girlfriends and other friends their to support Brian and his band Akashish.
It is the first time I have been sober and able to go see him at one of his shows. I'm still emotional about the pride I had for Brian and all of them. Afterwards when we were all talking outside I new no amount of alcohol could make me feel as good as these people could.
I'm grateful to be sober for 72 days. :ghug2

Good one, Larry !
You had me there...good looking blond lady, hardcore death metal, "had" 71 days of sobriety. I'm reading and "uh-oh" is going through my mind. The pride you have for your boys is so clear in your posts..they sure must be proud of Dad. Thank you so much for sharing. D

Hi Larry!
I too was worried when I first started reading your thread. I thought you were coming on here to let us know that you picked up last night. This is one of those times I'm glad to say that I am wrong!
I imagine that 73 days ago you would have never dreamed that your beautiful Wife would encourage you to go to a club with her!
And to go with your Sons and their friends too!
And, a drum roll please . . . you didn't drink!
That's awesome!
I know how wonderful I feel when my Son wants me around when only a few years ago he would go out of his way to make sure I didn't find out when and where his baseball games were or any other events that I would surely show up and embarress him at.
I can only imagine the pride your felt watching your one Son tear up the club with his music while your other Sons and their friends were having a blast as well.
Do you think this would classify as one of the Eleven Promises coming true for you ? " . . . we will comprehend the word Serenity and we will know Peace . . . " I don't think this is what they had in mind when the Promises were written, but for you, I know you felt Serenity and Peace listening to metal and watching the mosh pit
Thanks for sharing your incredible experience with us!
God Bless & Thank God . . . Just for Today,
Judy
