stupidest thing I ever did was to pick up drinking.

knowing that I came from the long line of fatal alcoholics that i've come from.
I was 43 before I really .. started with no care of the consequences.

I drank - BECAUSE I knew it'd kill me.

I drank to die.
on August 28, 2006 - I got my wish.

there *is* no comparison.

that's about as truthful as it gets, hon.
I don't *have* any 'pro' drinking.
I *was* a pro drinker.
Most of my drinking was done ... on the clock.

I am glad for today.
I didn't expect to have it.

but there is pros to drinking i think you need to be able to see the pros of drinking and the cons thought the cons are long lasting which the pros are not

what - you looking for an excuse?

there is no "pro" for drinking ..to an alcoholic.

IT's like trying to find a 'pro' for
a type one diabetic -
not using insulin
Or not taking medication ...
for lupus.

Or jumping ouit of an airplane -
and finding some 'pro' ... for NOT pulling the cord.

well for not taking insulin you feel high when low blood sugar and a pro to pulling the cord is it would be one hell of a fun fall im not saying im wanting to drink but there is prros

Hate to disillusion you but to an Alkie like me that took my affliction to the MAX and had the TOD on my ER chart there is NOT one 'Pro' to drinking in my book.

Nope not one. In all my years in recovery, I have not seen alcohol fix one thing. I have not seen alcohol make any one's life better.

Nope no 'Pros' from me.

I see no pros either to a 'habit' which made me so sick and unable to be a fully functioning human being and mother and employee. Drinking did horrible damage to my relationships with those I love. I may never completely return to the previous level of a good relationship. I may have damaged my health beyond repair. I have damaged my mental health. I lost jobs. I see nothing even remotely good about drinking. I suppose to a normal drinker there may be some pros, but not to an alcoholic. at least, not to THIS alcoholic.

This is one silly thread on a forum full of people who have suffered untold misery at the hands of alcohol, you would ask us what the pros are?

Do yourself a favour - if you are an alcoholic stay away from drink altogether, if you are not then you shouldn't be here posting threads like this and wasting people's time.

Hmm...the 'pros' have been gone for a while for me. All the 'pros' were there when I was 18, 19 years old. Party, party, boys, party, no inhibitions, fun, fun fun fun fun....yeah, none of that now. Might be fun for a second, but mostly no, it's just prison.

Now, the 'cons' could go on forever--I have a daughter who doesn't need a drunk/hungover mommy, my BF doesn't need a drunk/hungover GF, shame, guilt, disgust with myself, terrible eating habits, terrible exercise habits, lazy lazy lazy, messy house, denial, secretive, DUI, liver, physical appearance, smelly, performance at work, hangovers, forgetfulness...these are just some things that have altered me or what I've seen in others who drink.

All I know is the cons out weigh the pros.

There is plenty of both and much of them are obvious. Like this morning I got pulled over because I pulled into the bus lane to pick someone up. I got written a warning, it was eight thirty in the morning. 6 months ago I still would have been drunk at eight thirty in the morning. Could have been an issue. That is a pro. Not getting twisted with friends is a con. Being ready for everyday is a pro. Not being obliterated every nite is a con. It goes on and on. Better health is a pro.........etc.

The pro side is that Alcohol is a great persuader. It kicked the snot out of me and beat me into a state of reasonableness. Sounds like you are still on the fence, good luck with that.

just curious i do think people need to know the pros and cons not just cons or not just pros and i do not choose to drink becasue the cons outnumber the pros 5/1
