Here comes day seven...
Here comes day seven...
Hi everyone,
I'm just starting day 7. Thanks to everyone for all their helpful posts - I would never have got this far without all your encouragement. I'm trying not to get carried away - it was exactly on this day last week that I slipped up, so I'm trying to take the day slowly, make sure I don't get too tired, and just make sure I stay away from the first drink.
I got through the weekend, although it was tough at times. Sleepless nights are proving to be a little difficult, not having the alcohol to knock me out, so to speak.
One other challenge is finding an alternative, non-alcoholic drink. Over the weekend I've been re-discovering my childhood drink, coca-cola. I haven't really drunk coca-cola since I was about 10 or 11 years old. But on Friday I bought my self a great big bottle of coca-cola, took myself off to bed very early and watched a nice "feel-good" movie (The Sound of Music), just to try to distract my mind from constant thoughts about alcohol. Actually, I really enjoyed myself - the coca-cola tasted fantastic - and it was so wonderful to wake up on Saturday with no hangover (rather than the usual feeling of crawling out of bed at 1 o'clock in the afternoon, feeling terrible, and wasting another precious day of life).
Thanks again for all your help. Here goes with day seven...

Hey PB - that's great. Today is a mini milestone for you!! I know what you mean about re-discovering coke - I find it quite a good replacement, although am trying not to go caffeine crazy! Am working up to 7.30pm and am planning to spend the rest of the evening hiding under the duvet with anything other than alcohol. Hope I ca sleep tonight - took until 3am last night! But you're doing great
Hey nice one!
i remember the last time i did 7 days it felt great, i hope to be sharing my own in six days!!
Ive got to say coke zero is the one for me, that and loads of bottles of fizzy water so i have something in hand
